On October 1, 2020 I signed the paperwork to make Oliver and Co. Social official and as I look back on the five years we’ve been in business I am filled with gratitude!
Our first month in business, I had two clients. One of these clients I am thankful to say is still with me today (I’m looking at you, Savannah River Dermatology)! Since then, we’ve scaled to work with more than 10+ small businesses month over month and worked on countless one-time projects, consulting sessions, and branding packages. As I reflect on what these five years in business have meant, I’d love to look back on some major milestones.
Celebrating 1 Year in Business
I celebrated one full year in business in 2021. This is a major milestone for any small business owner! I was thankful to have a full roster of clients at the time and to be generating enough monthly income to fully surpass my prior W9 job! A major win for a freelancer/independent contractor!
Launching Our Internship Program
In 2022, I launched Oliver and Co. Social’s internship program and welcomed Spring and Summer interns to our team. This was such an exciting time in business! I loved working with talented and inspired students at universities like my alma mater, The University of Georgia. Since 2022, I have worked with 6 interns at amazing institutions such as the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Liberty University and Southern New Hampshire University. Students gain a flexible learning experience that can qualify for school credit giving them hands-on digital marketing experience with real client projects in a variety of industries. Several of these young women have gone on to start their own businesses and I cannot be more proud of being a small part of their stories!
Expanding Our Team
In 2023 Oliver and Co. Social saw its first additional employees join our team! I was lucky to work with several part-time contractors to increase our client load to agency capacity. This was such a fun and exciting time in business!
Experiencing New Creative Hubs
I have always loved traveling and in 2023, I took my work around the world with me! Laptop work sessions occurred in the Bahamas, Chicago, New York City, Fripp Island and even in Cannes, France where I got to see where the Cannes Lions Festival takes place each spring!
Relocating to Birmingham, AL
After four successful years in Augusta, Ga, my family (and thus my business) relocated to Birmingham, AL. During this time, I took my business back down to the studs and prioritized getting my feet on the ground in a new city. After building up a successful client roster in Georgia, I began the task of creating new relationships in Alabama. Birmingham is full of wonderful businesses! I am thankful to all those I have been and worked with already this year.
Having a Professional Branding Session Done
This year I was lucky enough to work with Audrey Creative here in Birmingham, AL on a personal branding photography shoot. What fun! As a creative myself, I have always done my own photography/videography, but it was truly a special gift to work with a fellow professional creative as a client. I have loved using my photos in our marketing this year on social media and more!
