Isabelle interned with us for the Spring semester of her sophomore year at the University of Georgia! During her time as an Oliver and Co. Social intern she worked on five different clients! Read on to see what she has to say about her key takeaways.
As I reflect on my time as an intern at Oliver & Co. I feel nothing but gratitude for the opportunities I have learned this past year. I wanted to share some of my biggest takeaways from my time as an intern at Oliver & Co. and how they will continue to impact me!
Research is Essential
One of the biggest takeaways I learned from working with different clients was how crucial it is to research the field before working with a client. If you are unfamiliar with the field (or even if you are familiar) researching is so important to make sure you can successfully generate content in any field. Working across diverse client projects underscored the importance of thorough research.
Harnessing the Power of Analytics
Exploring Instagram Analytics was one of the biggest lessons I learned this semester. Understanding the nuances between reach and audience, and mastering the interpretation of Insights tabs, unveiled a treasure trove of knowledge for social media marketers. These insights are invaluable in deciphering performance metrics and optimizing strategies.
Tailoring Content to Clients
A challenge that agencies have to face constantly is catering content to clients. One size does not fit all, especially in the world of social media marketing. A strategy that generates engagement for one client will not necessarily do the same for another. It is your job to get creative and
Leveraging Trends Strategically
I had the pleasure of working on Instagram Reels for a few different clients. When curating them, it is important to rely on trending audio and content concepts to ensure the highest engagement. While trends aren’t everything, using relevant ones can help to expand your audience on social media.
Consistency Over Virality
With that being said, I learned the importance of consistency and authenticity in social media. When leaning into trends, it is easy to focus on becoming viral, straying away from being consistent with your content. Amidst the allure of chasing viral moments, maintaining a consistent presence emerged as the key for audience expansion. My time at Oliver & Co. taught me that consistency is key in expanding your audience. I had the pleasure of working with clients who use this concept to their advantage, consistently posting every day instead of trying to have the next viral video.
In closing, I extend heartfelt gratitude to Oliver & Co. for the invaluable learning experience. Special thanks to Heather Oliver for her mentorship and guidance, which have been instrumental in my professional and personal growth. My time here has been transformative, and I eagerly anticipate applying these insights as I embark on the next phase of my journey.
